What if the most valuable lessons in your career aren’t found in books or courses – but in the stories and guidance of someone who’s walked the path before you? The KM Peer Mentoring Programme (KMPM) is a collaboration between the KM4Dev and SIKM Leaders communities. It connects knowledge management practitioners around the world for ten months of mutual learning, reflection, and support. Now in its third year, the programme has helped KM professionals at all levels grow their confidence, strengthen their practice, and build lasting professional relationships.
🌱 Who it’s for
- KM Mentees – practitioners who are new to the field, facing specific KM challenges, or seeking guidance from experienced peers.
- KM Mentors – seasoned professionals who want to “pay it forward” by sharing their time, experience, and insights.
- KM Mentor-Mentees – participants who wish to be both a mentor and a mentee, learning and giving at the same time.
Participation is voluntary and free. The programme welcomes KM professionals from any organisation, sector, or country.
🔄 How it works
- A public call for expressions of interest is shared every March through KM4Dev and SIKM channels.
- Applicants indicate whether they wish to join as a mentor, mentee, or both.
- Pairs are matched according to interests, language, and availability.
- Each pair agrees on its own rhythm – typically 9–12 monthly conversations throughout the year.
- A dedicated peer space (not public) supports exchange among current and past participants.
💬 In the 2024-25 cycle, 82 mentees were paired with 58 volunteer mentors – a vibrant network of KMers helping each other grow.
📣 When to join
The next call for mentors and mentees will open in March 2026. Until then, you can stay informed through KM4Dev’s Dgroups.io discussions or reach out directly to the programme team.
