The KM4Dev 25th Anniversary was designed to be more than a celebration. At a time when many knowledge and development practitioners are navigating uncertainty, organisational change, and transition, the session created a social learning space to pause, reflect, and think together about how communities can continue to make a difference.
Inspired by Learning to make a difference by Etienne and Beverly Wenger-Trayner, the event focused on using our social learning space to create value by listening to community needs, reflecting on what we have learned over the past 25 years, and co-creating priorities for the future.
The session began with a brief look back at KM4Dev journey, including highlights from the last five years and a reflection on how the community has responded to members’ needs since 2020. The main part of the event was a hands-on dialogue, with participants working in breakout groups around four key themes:
- Partnerships & breaking silos
- KM practitioner identity & wellbeing
- Connecting research and practice
- Knowledge retention & supporting transitions
Together, participants explored challenges, shared insights, and identified ideas that will help inform a roadmap for 2026, strengthening collaboration across KM4Dev and partner communities.
